Scar Treatment in Acupuncture: Why It Matters More Than People Realise

One thing I have always enjoyed treating in clinic is scars.

This can include all kinds of scarring, from surgeries and operations such as ACL repairs and C-sections, to acne scarring on the face or body. While many people think of scars as only a surface-level concern, in Chinese medicine they can affect more than just the skin.

A scar can interrupt the normal flow of Qi and Blood through an area. Sometimes that may contribute to tightness, sensitivity, reduced movement, or ongoing tension in the surrounding tissue.

Using acupuncture, and sometimes other gentle techniques around the scar, we work to improve circulation through the area and support the tissue to soften and move more normally again.

People are often surprised by how much change can happen, even with older scars.

At Zhong Centre, scar treatment is approached with care, always tailored to the area, the history of the scar, and how the tissue is presenting.
